CHAIRS PREVIEW PARTY!
Friday, April 18, 2008 7pm Juanita's Party Room Music by The Jellies, food and drink, silent auction for art Tickets available now from board members or call the office 537-9032 Members - $30, Non-members - $35, at the door - $35 Project Summary Southside Main Street is excited to announce the second annual Places, Spaces, Chairs Event in the hip new SoMa district of Little Rock. This temporary public art exhibit will bring people and interest to South Main Street and the surrounding neighborhood between I-630 and Roosevelt. As the second annual art event sponsored by Southside Main Street, it will again embody our dedication to enhancing economic development and quality of life for the citizens of the neighborhood, while also promoting it as the diverse and creative center of Little Rock. We are inviting a select group of artists to rethink the role of the street side bench or chair in the pedestrian experience. We challenge artists to combine sculpture with the idea of the chair as an object, to create a large scale public art exhibit that reflects the eclectic SoMa neighborhood experience. Each artist chosen to participate will be sponsored by a local business that will provide money to build the “chair”. The first event was great success! This year we are going bigger and better than ever! Artists: Mark Alderfer, Jeremy Estill & Whitney Patterson, Eric Freeman, Mia Hall & David Clemmons, Jeff Horton, Kwendeche, Russell Lemond, Michael Warrick, George Wittenberg

¡¡¡¡New Eric America/Sultry Records Virtual Release of "Sommer Im Süden" on November 7th!!!!
from Summer in the Southland unreleased sessions: words by Eric America, German translation by FK Solaiman and Claudio Klöckl
Sommer in Süden
"Sommer in Süden
erfüllt mich mit Leben
Gardenienknospen blühen
Erstrahlen in Gold und Grün
Die Sonne, rot und voller Kraft
fühl die Hitze
durch die Jeans
Sommer in Süden
erfüllt mich mit Leben
Winter in der Stadt--
grau und düster
nur der Sommer in Süden
erfüllt mich mit Leben
Der Himmel voller Saphire
Sie schimmern wie im Traum
Sommer in Süden
erfüllt mich mit Leben"
